To say things have been busy would be an understatement … hence the really late best and worst books of 2019 post!
Better late than never, right?
The first (and thus far only) time I’ve done a post like this (see My Best and Worst Books of 2018) it went over really well, so here you go – my best and worst books of 2019, of 50 books and (according to Goodreads) 14,327 pages read.
We’ll start with my least favorite read.
There were insightful, interesting quizzes throughout, but they are really only beneficial if you plan to follow the 28 day plan at the end.
A frustrating aspect of this book was the conclusions to nearly every chapter – go to your doctor, and have x, y, and z tests done. I, for one, hate being a human guinea pig. Although tests have a time and a place, testing for any random thing that might possibly be impacting you is not only going to get expensive fast, it’s a bit (dare I say it?) neurotic.
Body Wise was more of a New Age book and (to me) improbable … not something I’d recommend.
Looking back, it’s super difficult to pick a favorite. There were so many good books that I finished in 2019!
(In no particular order)
Extremely informative and Biblically based, Boundaries was an eye-opening book. Actually, it was more of a guide than anything – a guide to Biblical boundaries. Every claim had a Biblical backing, and there were plenty of examples of how proper boundaries should look. I loved that Cloud didn’t just discuss adults, either – Cloud had an entire chapter devoted to children and setting boundaries from the beginning. I fully plan on reading Cloud’s other books on boundaries in addition to this one.
I highly recommend Boundaries to Christians who are interested in how proper boundaries should look – and even to Christians who believe they have good boundaries already – it’s always good to have a refresher.
This is the kind of book you reference and re-read over and over again.
As per the usual, I had a really hard time picking a favorite book for the year, so I picked a few. It’s a rough year reading-wise if I don’t struggle with that!
Picking a least favorite book was less difficult, although I did have to narrow it down a bit before finally settling on one. Even my least favorite book got two stars in 2019!
Do you have a favorite read from 2019?
