Moye unfortunately has a tendency to tell, not show in her writing – which can grate a bit on the nerves. On the bright side, once you adjust to that tendency the story is engaging and well developed.
Daraglathia became as real to me through Frost as any place I’ve ever visited. Moye’s writing really shines in the dialogue, though. The dialogue almost entirely makes up for whatever else the writing is lacking.
It was interesting how Moye managed to take the worst characters and (slightly) redeem them, while at the same time showing us the true faces of some of the likable characters.
Although it worked with the overall story arc, I found the ending frustrating. With that being said, at least it wasn’t a cliched ending.
Overall, I liked Frost and would recommend it to fantasy lovers who are keen on the world of elves and dwarfs and magic.
