These Asian inspired brussels sprouts are super easy to make and only five ingredients.
Literally quarter the brussels sprouts, toss with the remaining ingredients, and pop them in the oven – easy peasy! Most of the prep time is for chopping the brussels by hand, but if you have some kind of chopper like a Ninja or food processor that can chunk the brussels sprouts – you can use that too. It would make the prep time even quicker.
Although I did rotate the trays in the oven when using more than one tray, if you have one large tray then that shouldn’t be necessary. Just consider stirring halfway through (although it is by no means required unless they start to burn).
After I had made this recipe a few times, I experimented with increasing the batch size and actually tripled the recipe. It turned out perfectly; just a little less crispy, so feel free to bake slightly longer if increasing the batch size and desiring extra crispiness.
I have also experimented with using liquid aminos instead of soy sauce. Please do NOT use a one-to-one ratio if making this substitute – the liquid aminos taste saltier and stronger. I recommend using about 1/3 of the amount (for a single batch this would be 1 tbsp liquid aminos instead of 3 tbsp soy sauce) if making the swap.
Thus far I have tested this recipe on about five people, and all declared it delicious. One even said it was the “best brussels sprouts [he’d] ever had”. If you make this recipe, by all means, please come back and let me know how you like it!
The recipe is designed to taste buttery, but without any actual butter used. It is a Trim Healthy Mama S recipe, and low carb.
Have you tried these Asian inspired brussels sprouts? What did you think?
